Kaliah Carter, LSW, is a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Social Worker committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and achieve meaningful personal growth. She earned her Master’s Degree in Social Work from Capella University and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Albany State University. Kaliah is also certified as a School Social Worker in New Jersey and brings extensive experience across mental health, substance use treatment, healthcare, crisis intervention, and community-based services.
Throughout her career, Kaliah has worked with diverse populations across outpatient mental health settings, substance use treatment programs, healthcare facilities, schools, and community organizations. Her clinical experience includes treating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, substance use disorders, life transitions, and co-occurring mental health concerns. She is passionate about helping clients identify their strengths, overcome obstacles, and build healthier, more fulfilling lives.
Kaliah currently provides psychotherapy and substance use counseling services, utilizing evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs. Her therapeutic style is warm, collaborative, and client-centered, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based interventions, and trauma-informed practices. She believes that every individual has the capacity for growth and healing when provided with the right support and therapeutic tools.
In addition to her clinical work, Kaliah has held leadership positions in healthcare and behavioral health settings, including serving as Director of Social Services within a skilled nursing and rehabilitation environment. Her professional background includes comprehensive psychosocial assessments, treatment planning, discharge coordination, crisis counseling, case management, family support services, utilization review, and interdisciplinary collaboration. She has also dedicated significant time to community advocacy through volunteer work, including serving as a Crisis Counselor for Crisis Text Line and as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for children involved in the court system.
Kaliah is known for her empathetic approach, strong advocacy skills, and commitment to creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered. She is passionate about helping individuals develop effective coping skills, strengthen relationships, improve emotional well-being, and move confidently toward their personal goals.
