Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor

Gail A. Buck is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC) with more than 20 years of experience in behavioral health, mental health counseling, substance use treatment, forensic assessment, and community-based services. Throughout her career, Gail has worked with adolescents, adults, and families experiencing a wide range of mental health, substance use, behavioral, and life challenges.

Gail holds two Master of Arts degrees, including a Master’s degree in Community Counseling from Montclair State University and a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Richard Stockton College of New Jersey. Her extensive education in both counseling and forensic psychology provides her with a unique perspective on the complex relationship between mental health, substance use, behavior, relationships, environmental stressors, and life experiences.

Throughout her clinical career, Gail has provided psychotherapy to adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, trauma, life transitions, co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders, and other emotional and behavioral concerns. Her experience includes comprehensive assessment, individualized treatment planning, crisis intervention, individual counseling, group therapy, family therapy, and collaboration with healthcare providers and community resources to promote continuity of care.

Gail has extensive experience working with individuals affected by substance use disorders and addiction. Her background includes conducting comprehensive clinical and substance use evaluations, determining appropriate levels of care, developing individualized treatment recommendations, supporting relapse response and aftercare planning, and helping connect individuals with appropriate treatment and recovery resources. Her experience allows her to approach substance use concerns with an understanding of both the clinical complexities of addiction and the importance of individualized, recovery-oriented care.

Gail also brings significant expertise in working with individuals involved in the legal and court systems. For more than two decades, she has conducted substance use and psychosocial assessments for adults, adolescents, and families while collaborating with judges, attorneys, probation officers, treatment providers, and other professionals. This experience has provided her with a strong understanding of the intersection between mental health, substance use, recovery, family systems, and legal challenges.

Gail approaches therapy from a compassionate, collaborative, and individualized perspective. She recognizes that every client enters therapy with a unique history, set of strengths, relationships, challenges, and goals. She strives to create a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients feel comfortable discussing difficult experiences, gaining greater insight into themselves, developing healthier coping strategies, and working toward meaningful and sustainable change.

In addition to her direct clinical work, Gail has extensive experience in professional education and consultation. She has provided training and education related to substance use disorders, medication-assisted treatment, overdose prevention, emerging substance use trends, and other behavioral health topics. She has also served as an instructor for aspiring alcohol and drug counselors, bringing her years of clinical experience into the education and development of other behavioral health professionals.

Gail’s diverse professional experience allows her to understand that mental health and recovery are influenced by many interconnected areas of a person’s life. She values a comprehensive approach to treatment that considers emotional well-being, relationships, substance use, environmental stressors, life experiences, and available support systems while helping clients identify their strengths and move toward their individual goals.

Gail has been a clinician with Monarch Counseling Center since 2024, where she provides psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. She is committed to providing compassionate, ethical, and individualized care while helping clients navigate anxiety, trauma, substance use and co-occurring concerns, significant life transitions, and other challenges. Gail strives to empower her clients to strengthen their resilience, develop greater self-awareness, and create meaningful changes that support their overall well-being.
