Licensed Social Worker

Evelyn Paz is a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) with extensive experience supporting individuals, children, couples, and families through a variety of emotional, relational, and life challenges. With a professional background spanning psychotherapy, child and family advocacy, crisis response, and social services, Evelyn brings a compassionate, culturally responsive, and family-centered perspective to her therapeutic work.

Evelyn earned her Master of Social Work from Rutgers University and a Master of Child Advocacy and Policy from Montclair State University. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from William Paterson University of New Jersey. In addition to her graduate education, Evelyn completed Rutgers University’s Violence Against Women and Children Certificate Program and Montclair State University’s Adolescent Advocacy Certificate Program. Her extensive education in social work, family systems, advocacy, and interpersonal relationships provides her with a strong foundation for understanding the complex factors that can influence an individual’s and family’s emotional well-being.

Throughout her career, Evelyn has developed significant experience working with children and families experiencing complex and challenging circumstances. Her extensive background with child welfare systems, child safety and risk assessments, crisis response, case management, family engagement, and collaboration with community providers and other professionals. This experience has given Evelyn a unique understanding of family dynamics, parenting challenges, childhood experiences, trauma, and the impact that environmental and relational stressors can have on individuals and families.

Evelyn’s professional experience also includes responding to high-stress and crisis situations involving children and families. She has conducted assessments, collaborated with law enforcement and other professionals, evaluated family and child safety concerns, and helped connect families with appropriate community resources and services. Her ability to remain compassionate and thoughtful while navigating complex situations contributes to the supportive and grounded environment she strives to create for her therapy clients.

Evelyn approaches therapy from a collaborative and client-centered perspective, recognizing that every individual and family brings their own history, culture, relationships, strengths, and experiences into the therapeutic process. She works to create a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients can openly explore their emotions, relationships, challenges, and goals while developing healthier patterns of communication, coping, and connection.

With her background in marriage and family therapy, social work, and child advocacy, Evelyn understands the importance of looking beyond an individual’s symptoms and considering the relationships, family systems, life experiences, and environments that may influence emotional well-being. She is passionate about helping clients strengthen relationships, navigate difficult transitions, improve communication, establish healthy boundaries, and develop greater insight into patterns that may be affecting their lives.

Evelyn also brings significant leadership and mentoring experience to her clinical work. Throughout her career, she has supervised and mentored social work interns and professionals while promoting family-centered approaches to care. Her experience collaborating with families, community organizations, social service professionals, and other stakeholders has strengthened her ability to approach clients’ needs from a comprehensive and multidisciplinary perspective.

As a bilingual therapist fluent in both English and Spanish, Evelyn is able to provide culturally responsive care to individuals and families from diverse backgrounds. Her experience working with bilingual and bicultural families has strengthened her appreciation for the ways culture, family values, identity, and lived experiences can influence mental health, relationships, and the therapeutic process.

Evelyn has been a psychotherapist with Monarch Counseling Center since March 2025. She is committed to helping individuals, couples, and families feel heard, respected, and supported as they navigate challenges, strengthen their relationships, develop greater self-awareness, and work toward meaningful and lasting personal growth.
