Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, & Certified Sex Addiction Therapist
Christina Khalil, LSW, LCADC, CSAT, is a Licensed Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor, and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist with extensive experience providing psychotherapy to individuals, couples, families, and groups. Christina specializes in relationship dynamics, intimacy concerns, betrayal trauma, substance use and addiction recovery, behavioral addictions, and co-occurring mental health concerns. Her clinical approach is compassionate, trauma-informed, and focused on helping clients develop greater insight, healthier relationships, and sustainable changes in their lives.
Christina earned both her Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Ramapo College of New Jersey. Her education, specialized certifications, and extensive clinical experience have provided her with a strong foundation for understanding the complex relationship between mental health, addiction, trauma, attachment, intimacy, and interpersonal relationships.
Christina is currently a Primary Therapist with Monarch Counseling Center, where she works extensively with individuals and couples navigating relationship challenges, betrayal trauma, infidelity, problematic sexual behaviors, addiction-related relationship injuries, and significant relational ruptures. She provides a supportive and nonjudgmental therapeutic environment where clients can explore difficult experiences while developing the skills necessary to rebuild trust, strengthen communication, establish healthy boundaries, and create more fulfilling relationships.
A significant area of Christina’s clinical work involves supporting couples recovering from betrayal and breaches of trust. She helps partners navigate the complex emotional process of rebuilding safety, accountability, transparency, and emotional connection following infidelity, problematic sexual behaviors, addiction, or other significant relationship injuries. Christina also assists clients with disclosure processes, emotional regulation, conflict resolution, attachment-related concerns, and the development of healthier patterns of communication and intimacy.
Christina has extensive experience treating substance use disorders and behavioral addictions, including gambling and problematic sexual behaviors. She has worked with individuals experiencing addiction alongside trauma, anxiety, ADHD, and other co-occurring mental health concerns. Her work emphasizes relapse prevention, impulse control, coping skill development, emotional regulation, and identifying the underlying patterns that may contribute to addictive or self-defeating behaviors.
Christina utilizes evidence-based and trauma-informed therapeutic approaches, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, mindfulness-based strategies, psychoeducation, attachment-focused interventions, and other individualized techniques based on each client’s needs and treatment goals. She recognizes that lasting change often requires understanding not only behaviors themselves, but also the emotional experiences, relationships, attachment patterns, and underlying needs connected to those behaviors.
In addition to her direct clinical work, Christina has significant experience developing trauma-informed therapeutic curricula, workbooks, facilitator guides, psychoeducational materials, structured exercises, and clinical programming. Her curriculum development has addressed topics including betrayal trauma recovery, emotional intimacy, healthy communication, attachment patterns, boundaries, self-compassion, anxiety, depression, neurodivergence, addiction recovery, and emotional regulation. She has a particular ability to translate complex psychological concepts into practical and accessible tools that clients can apply to their everyday lives.
At Monarch Counseling Center, Christina is passionate about helping clients better understand themselves and their relationships while creating a path toward healing and meaningful change. Whether working with an individual struggling with addiction or emotional concerns, a partner recovering from betrayal, or a couple attempting to reconnect after a significant rupture, Christina approaches the therapeutic relationship with compassion, accountability, and respect for each client’s individual experience. Her goal is to help clients develop the insight, emotional awareness, communication skills, and practical tools necessary to create healthier relationships with themselves and with the people who matter most to them.
